Learning Enhancement Day Nov 1

NOVEMBER 1, 2024 – Learning Enhancement Day

Learning Enhancement Day: DEFINITION

While the school is open to all students, our teachers’ focus will be on students who need support to get caught up or earn a passing grade before the formal report card is issued. This is a time for staff to invite some students to attend specifically to demonstrate their learning by completing an important project, lab, or missed test. Students with “IE” plans (insufficient evidence plans communicated to families before October 31) will be strongly encouraged to attend on November 1; our goal is to help all students improve their learning and pass their classes.

FAQ

1. Do all students attend on November 1?

a. No. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate essential learning and work on resolving their “IE” plans with their teachers. All students are welcome to attend, but staff will focus on those students who need support or are struggling to meet learning expectations.

2. Can my child’s teacher require them to attend?

a. Teachers will strongly encourage students to attend if they are failing a class or have an “IE” plan. Attendance on November 1 may be part of a student’s “IE” plan.

3. My student wants an opportunity to improve their mark. Should they attend?

a. The focus of the day will be students who are struggling to meet essential competencies in classes. Students who are looking to enhance their learning experience by seeking extra support are welcome but should connect with their teachers ahead of time to plan.

4. Do buses run as normal?

a. Yes.

Please reach out to your student’s teachers anytime. All staff emails are on our school website.
